I’m drinking water with a high pH, therefore I’m perfectly hydrated. Wrong! pH is a property of H2O (water) that does not contribute to hydration one bit. Our body is mostly water, hence your blood needs to be more alkaline than acid, as elevated acidity is destabilising the natural processes of the body, activating cancer, etc.. Potential of Hydrogen (pH) is a measurable property of water, and an alkaline value (above 7 pH) does not mean that the quality of your drinking water is perfect, not even excellent, nor ideal. Not on its own. Even too alkaline (above 9 pH) is not quite good, as too alkaline blood can entertain parasites. Your body needs a relative balance oscillating towards the lower levels of alkaline and upwards, but not constant at levels of 9 pH or higher. The latter is a mistake.
When working in Bio Products Laboratory I was using WFI (Water for Injection) during the process. That is the purest water in the world, and most expensive (due to high production costs), because it goes into vaccines and other intravenous solutions. Basically people get injected with it. When something goes straight into your blood it needs to be the purest of the pure. When you drink it, water goes through many filters, and by the time it enters the blood, most possible contaminants have been removed or inactivated by the acid in your stomach. WFI is so pure that its conductivity is ZERO µS/cm (microSiemens per centimetre). This means that if you dip your feet in a pot with WFI and I bring two live wires with 220V at industrial amperage, you would not get electrocuted. Even the purest water in the world would be considered safe to drink with a pH of slightly under 7 at room temperature. When warmed up it tends to go towards 5.5 pH, but it doesn’t mean it’s acidic, that’s a different topic. Temperature influences the pH. This is why you should not stay with a fever for more than a day, or you risk losing your health. Tap water is definitely under 7 pH. The difference is that if you were to drink a 200ml glass of this pure water, you’d be in a hospital bed in a matter of hours. This is faster compared to drinking infested water, which is the opposite. This one would put you in a hospital somewhere between one and a few days.
The reasons why this pure water can kill you faster, but in the same time you cannot get get electrocuted in it, is because it does not have minerals and impurities. I know it’s difficult to comprehend this, but pure H2O is deadly if you drink it. Why? Pure H2O is a thief, it likes to steal stuff from the environment to enrich itself. The impurities in WFI are less than 0.5ppb (particles per billion). That’s really pure! It is so pure that if there were two particles in a glass of water, it would take them a lot of time to find each other and pass on electricity. When entering your body, the pure water will try to steal minerals (electrolytes) to enrich itself. This is what water does when passing through rock. Your body being soft and thirsty, the pure water would find it really easy to feel and actually act entitled. It would dehydrate your body in record time. Your body is electric, so just think what pure water would do to your central nervous system if you’d run out of electrolytes (conductors of electricity), which are essential to you being alive. You’d experience muscle failure, blocked kidneys, etc., and soon death. Even poorly mineralised water can have a negative impact on your body, never mind pure water. No matter how much you’d drink. You should never drink more than 5 litres a day if you’re not sweating excessively through workout. This water can be alkaline, giving you a false impression of hydration.
So, next time you’re happy only when you see that your drinking water is alkaline, think mineralisation too. It’s more important on the short term than acidity. How to know which water to consume? Avoid Purified Water, or how I’ve seen in some airports, Evaporated Water. Also avoid plastic bottled water and from big companies. Do you really think Coca Cola wants you healthy? They’re using tap purified water, to which they’ve added their own secret mineral dust.
The perfect water to drink is Natural Mineral (non sparkling) Spring Water coming from mountain springs. The closer to sea level the caption point is, the higher the chances of contamination with nasty stuff. Check the source and make it spring water and naturally mineralised, with a good balance. Educate yourself, and in the meantime aim for a dry residue percentage as low as possible. Too much residue can lead to kidney and gull bladder stones. Drink the right water, at least two litres a day, and live a happy healthy life. Stay healthy, don’t just aim to recover what you’ve already lost, it’s impossible most times. Water plays a massive role in life. Drinking the wrong water will kill you!
