Enjoy Amazing Thermal Baths In Baden-Baden

What happens in Germany takes over the world. Haha!

Baden-Baden is a beautiful small town in West Germany, close to the border with France set by the Rhine river.

Weather

I was there at the end of June and the temperature was in the +30ºC. It’s a continental temperate climate, therefore the summers are very hot.

Transport

I was driving a rental car, but I could see local buses picking people up from bus stops. Taxis were also all over the place and really luxurious. If you drive you have underground parkings that are fairly cheap.

Culture

The town has a roman feel to it in my opinion. It was my first time in Germany and I was imagining it to be something else. People are nice and willing to help you if you need directions, or just want to socialise. Other than that, I don’t know much about the culture.

Attractions

I went there with a purpose, and a good one indeed: the Caracalla Therme thermal baths.

Caracalla Therme

If you are ever in Baden-Baden you should not miss spending your life there. They are the best thermal baths I have ever been to. Everything is so organised, it’s Germany of course, and you have so many things to enjoy there, from pools with hydro-massage and moving waters, to the completely naked saunas and all types of treatments. Its size is impressive too and paying 20 Euros for 3 hours of spa is brilliant. When you’re inside you have your own locker which you lock and unlock with your bracelet. There is no key involved. At the buffet you also pay with it.

Just remember, no shorts or swimsuit in the mixed gender saunas. You want to order something from the treatment area bar? Naked is the way, baby… I loved it!

Shopping & Food

We had a 1L beer at the Lowenbrau restaurant for 10 Euros (Lowenbrau never tasted better) and did some shopping in Fatih Markt on the high street.

The supermarket and food deli had some spicy prices for vegetables, and average for other products. They have amazing marinated anchovies (hmmm!) and baklavas. You’ve got to try these if there. They are Turkish and know their baklava, which I believe is one of the best deserts in the world. That was the second best I ever had and probably will be your first.
